RACINE (CBS 58) -- The Racine United School District dips its toes in the water with a new aquatic center. The ribbon cutting to the 51-thousand square foot "state-of-the-art" facility was just this past week. The main pool has ten swimming laps, and there are handicap accessible pools as well. Obviously this venue, just west of Case High School off Highway 20, is tailor made for student-athletes. But those with the $22.5 million dollar development say it's also designed with the community in mind.
The center is preparing to open to the public next month. The space is intended for large swim events, parties, fitness classes, and of course swim lessons.
