The Whisker Society expands combining coffee and cat adoptions
CBS 58 OCONOMOWOC, Wis. (CBS 58) -- The Whisker Society in Oconomowoc has been open just six months and they've already helped more than 130 cats get adopted. The lounge has more than 16 cats and kittens wandering around at any given time.
The space is open to the public and anyone can visit -- you don't need any intention of adopting.
The cafe is now open too, so you can sip on a handcrafted drink while hanging out with cats.
Becca Tetzlaff, the executive director at The Whisker Society, says the cafe is the perfect space for families that want to support the mission but may not be able to adopt a cat. The cafe is a separate but connected space that is also safe for people with allergies to animals.
"We’re constantly bringing in new cats from our partner organizations that are going to be up for adoption. You can see that these cats are really well settled into the space, they’re really well adjusted which makes it a great experience for anyone coming in to interact with the cats," said Tetzlaff.
The cafe and lounge are open Tuesday through Sunday. Lounge visits are about $10-15 for an hour and open to ages 5 and up.
