“He was a people person, he was a social butterfly, he was just an amazing soul, and it’s so sad that this city keeps taking so many great people from us,” family friend Rachel Daniels said.

Daniels met Hogans 18 years ago when the two were neighbors in a Milwaukee apartment building.

“One more hug, one more 'I love you,' they really took a beautiful human being from us,” Daniels said.

Hogans leaves behind three children and a baby granddaughter.

“I never thought he would be a part of Milwaukee's gun violence,” Daniels said. “I feel like he may just have invited the wrong person into his life and his circle, somebody that didn’t understand him, somebody that didn’t understand his heart and how much he cared.”

The Milwaukee Police Department has not made any arrests in relation to the shooting.

“I’m hoping that we can all take something from this and we can all just come together and be stronger as a people for Milwaukee, for each other, because we’re just gonna continue to lose good people,” Daniels said.
