Milwaukee organizations team up for 2nd annual Electronics Scrap Recycling Drive benefitting Alzheimer's Association
MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- If you have any old or unwanted electronic devices, here's your chance to get rid of them for free while benefitting a great cause.
On Saturday, April 22, which is also Earth Day, Elite Energy Distribution (EED) and the Milwaukee Alzheimer's Association (AA) are teaming up for their second annual "Electronics Scrap Recycling Drive."
The event will run from 8 a.m. until about noon in the AA's parking lot at 620 S. 76th St. Suite 160 in Milwaukee.
All you have to do is drive up with items like televisions, laptops, batteries, video game consoles, etc. and organizers will unload them from the car for you and dispose of them safely inside bins.
“All of the funds are going to the Alzheimer’s Association, so you’re doing due diligence in that responsibility and also helping a great cause," said EED President David Strange.
Last year, the event raised about $4,000. This year, they're hoping that's doubled.
“The money that we’ll raise from this event will go to providing care and support to local families," said Rachel Bachhuber, a manager with Walk to End Alzheimer's.
Funds could go toward providing a 24/7 help line with master level social workers or to programming, education, and support groups.
“We have empathy, we have sympathy for those families, because we all have been there and if we haven’t been there, you know someone within your wire circle who has been," Strange said. “This is how the community works, right? We help each other."
