‘This ranks right up there’: Violent Femmes back in town for World Series
Violent Femmes MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) — The Violent Femmes are back in Milwaukee this week to perform at American Family Field ahead of Game 1 of the World Series.
The band started in Milwaukee back in 1980, two years before the Brewers made their first World Series.
“I was in the recording studio with Violent Femmes recording our first album,” Violent Femmes bassist Brian Ritchie said. “We couldn’t afford tickets.”
Forty-four years later, the band is back together and back where they started to kick off the 2026 Fall Classic.
“It takes a little bit to get us distracted because we’ve been performing at thousands of different venues, but every once in a while, something really unique comes along, and this year it’s the World Series,” Ritchie said.
The band has spent decades traveling the world and playing for thousands of punk rock fans.
“This ranks right up there, and especially for the community, the way we feel about Milwaukee and the way we’re tying in with the Brewers and the Milwaukee people is precious,” Ritchie said.
The performance will start at 4:45 p.m. and last 30 minutes.
Anyone with a ticket to Game 1 can be inside the stadium at 4 p.m. when gates open.
“It’s a completely unexpected thing to be able to play at the World Series, but it seems justified because we’re such a tied-in-with-Milwaukee band,” Ritchie said.
