Thomas Dambo troll sculpture coming to Village of Mount Pleasant
CBS 58 MOUNT PLEASANT, Wis. (CBS 58) -- Artist Thomas Dambo will install one of his landmark troll sculptures in the Village of Mount Pleasant, and you could help bring it to life.
The village says Enjoy Mount Pleasant approved a contract with the artist, with installation planned for the second half of 2027. They're seeking recycled wood and other materials that could be used to build the troll and will be looking for local volunteers to help with assembly.
The Mount Pleasant sculpture will mark Dambo's second in Wisconsin, with his first installed in Wauwatosa's Firefly Grove Park. "Mama Rosa" was created in May of 2025, and within one month, attracted over 62,000 visitors and $4 million in economic impact, according to the village.
“This troll will welcome thousands of people to visit and experience Mount Pleasant,” said David DeGroot, Mount Pleasant village president. “Those visitors will support our local businesses, explore our parks, and discover everything that makes this community special."
The village says funding will come from an existing tax collected on hotel room rentals that's financed tourism projects and marketing for more than 30 years.
The troll's future location has not yet been determined. The village says Dambo will visit later this year to tour possible sites.
