EAGLE, Wis. (CBS 58) -- McMiller Sports Center in Eagle is expecting to see 60 percent of its customers over the next month alone. The gun deer hunting season opens in Wisconsin this Saturday, Nov. 23.

Connor Bradbury is a manager at McMiller. He shared some good reminders and safety tips for even the most seasoned hunters on Wednesday, Nov. 20.

Bradbury says the most important thing to do is make sure you've shot your gun before heading to the woods.

"I wouldn't recommend having the first time you shoot your gun be opening weekend," he said. "You're going to want to get out and take a couple shots just to verify that your firearm is still on target that your scope hasn't moved or anything."

He said it's also important to make sure you're hunting with the right bullets.

"It's very important, ethical, to use the correct ammunition. You want to use hunting loads not just target loads."

Gun deer hunting season runs through Dec. 2.
