Austin Sanders was a sophomore at the school.
The Racine County Sheriff says the 15-year-old was found face down Wednesday morning in a pond near his home. The Sheriff says the death does not appear to be suspicious, but the investigation is ongoing. Austin's mother, Pauline Sanders, was arrested Wednesday for bail jumping and drug charges.
The word of Austin's death spread to many students through social media. Thursday, grief counselors were available all day at Austin's high school. Superintendent Allen Mollerskov says a counselor was at every class Austin had.
"There are various stages of grief when kids come into meet with the counselors," Superintendent Mollerskov said. "We've seen that. We've had this happen several times and it's always very tragic when there's a death of a student."
Austin's sister is a junior at the high school.
