Dr. Kimo Ah Yun elected president of Marquette University
MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Six hundred-thousand dollars is going to support 30 incoming students at Marquette University.
"All-in Milwaukee" and Marquette University are continuing to support more students in need on their path to graduation.
"I'm a girl from the south side of Milwaukee, middle-class parents, both parents are immigrants, so being able to make something out of our last name here and build a legacy for us is truly amazing," said Maria Gonzalez, All-in Milwaukee graduate, 2023.
Eighty-seven percent of all the students in the All-in Milwaukee program are first-generation college students.
This grant money was given by United Healthcare and the Metropolitan Milwaukee Association of Commerce.
The goal is to have these students pursue health and science-related careers and join the workforce in southeast Wisconsin.
"Our health care needs them, our business needs them, our law enforcement needs them, our court system needs them," said Dale Kooyenga, MMAC president. "We need them here."
The hope is the success of this program continues to help these students and keep them right here in Milwaukee.
