UPDATE: 10-Year-Old Girl Lied about Being Shot, Accidentally Shot Herself

Milwaukee Police say further investigation into the reported shooting of the 10-year-old girl in Washington Park has revealed that the girl fabricated the story after accidentally shooting herself while playing with a firearm in her home.

MPD is currently investigating the the incident, including how the girl accessed the gun.

Originally, the girl reported she reported she was was playing with friends Friday afternoon around 5:30 PM when she heard a “pop” and realized she was shot. She told police she then walked home and was taken to a local hospital two hours later by her parents where she was treated and released for a minor injury.
