VISIT Milwaukee celebrates record-breaking tourism year in 2022
MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- VISIT Milwaukee held its annual meeting to celebrate record-breaking tourism numbers from last year. The reception is being held at the American Family Insurance Amphitheater on the Summerfest grounds.
Roughly 100 community stakeholders and city leaders listened to speakers and watched presentations.
Economic leaders say more tourism dollars are spent in Milwaukee than anywhere else in the state.
VISIT Milwaukee said millions of tourists have visited Milwaukee in the past year, spending $3.3 billion and supporting 43,000 jobs.
"Together we make a case for record-breaking travel, and it benefits all Wisconsinites," said Anne Sayers, secretary for Travel Wisconsin.
"These travelers are our ambassadors when they return to their communities," said Milwaukee Mayor Cavalier Johnson.
Statewide, Travel Wisconsin said the total economic impact of tourism in 2022 was a record-breaking $23.7 billion.
