MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Spring is in full swing and that has gotten lots of people in the Milwaukee area heading out to local parks for some spring cleaning.
On Saturday, April 20, Milwaukee Riverkeeper held their yearly cleanup, encouraging people to get to their local rivers to clean up trash and other debris.
In Glendale, so many volunteers showed up to Lincoln Park that they ran out of trash bags to hang out.
"I think it's wonderful. And I think especially when kids come and they do it as families," said Sally Callan, volunteer.
"It just makes you feel like people are aware that we need to keep our green spaces clean. What I hope is we all learn ways to avoid getting it here in the first place," said Callan.
More than 4,500 people registered to volunteer today, with cleaning up the Milwaukee, Menomonee, and KK rivers.
