MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- On Thursday, nearly 1,000 volunteers were at MPS schools revitalizing seven different campuses.
It was part of GE HealthCare's 28th annual Community Service Day.
The longstanding tradition between GE HealthCare and Milwaukee Public Schools helps schools look their best for students' return to classrooms.
"They're just amazing," said Heidi Panosh, principal at Bay View Montessori. "I'm so grateful for them to come here and help MPS projects, and they've done it for 28 years. Our families, our students are going to be excited, and our staff are really grateful for what they're doing."
Along with landscaping, the more than 900 volunteers helped paint a map of the US, brought in new furniture, and added new inspirational quotes on school walls.
