Milwaukee immigrant framed for threatening Pres. Trump released from jail on bond

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- The Milwaukee immigrant at the center of a hoax drawing national attention was released from Dodge County Jail Thursday, June 12.

Ramon Morales-Reyes' bond was set at $7,500 at an immigration hearing earlier this week.

He posted bond and was released late Thursday afternoon, according to Voces de la Frontera.

Demetric Scott, a man who reportedly assaulted and robbed Morales-Reyes, framed him with threats against President Trump.

Scott has since admitted to writing those letters to try and prevent Morales-Reyes from testifying against him.

Morales-Reyes is still facing deportation.

The Trump administration called him a "criminal illegal alien" in a statement earlier this week.
