Waukesha alderman arrested in stalking investigation, Mayor Reilly responds

WAUKESHA, Wis. (CBS 58) -- Waukesha Mayor Shawn Reilly issued a press release on Tuesday, Feb. 18 in response to the arrest of Alderman Cory Payne's arrest.

"The alleged action is a serious crime and should be fully investigated by the appropriate authorities," Reilly said. He also noted that he will be monitoring the case as it continues through the criminal justice system.



WAUKESHA, Wis. (CBS 58) -- Waukesha Alderman Cory Payne was arrested Monday, Feb. 17 following an investigation into a stalking complaint, according to the Waukesha County Sheriff’s Department.

The City of Waukesha Police Department requested the sheriff’s office investigate allegations that Payne had been harassing a former girlfriend for several weeks, knew her whereabouts and refused to stop contacting her.

Following the initial investigation, Payne was reportedly booked into the Waukesha County Jail on suspicion of stalking.

As reported by CBS 58, Payne was previously found guilty of two misdemeanor counts of battery and disorderly conduct in Sept. 2023.

WCSD stated that the investigation is ongoing.
