Waukesha invites community to customize tiles for parade memorial

WAUKESHA, Wis. (CBS 58) -- Waukesha is preparing for two memorials that will honor and remember those impacted by the 2021 Waukesha Christmas Parade attack. As part of the memorial at Grede Park, there is a plan to have a wall consisting of clay tiles customized by community members.

The city is encouraging everyone in the community to participate in the project and create a tile.

Waukesha will host three larger events where anyone is welcome to engrave a tile. The minimum donation for each tile is $25 with proceeds going toward the Parade Memorial Fund.

Community Tile Events:

  • Nov. 21, 2023, following the Main Street Parade Memorial Dedication, an event will be held at the Clarke Hotel (314 W Main Street).
  • March 9, 2023, a tile event will be held at the Waukesha Public Library (321 Wisconsin Ave.).
  • Summer 2024, a community tile event will be held. The date will be released early next year.

In addition, groups wishing to hold their own tile engraving sessions may request a session with a minimum of 35 tiles purchased. The artist and volunteers will bring the tiles and all the supplies to the location of your choosing, in Waukesha. Any groups interested in scheduling a session should complete the online interest form found HERE.
