Waukesha Parks announce dates and performers for beer gardens

The City of Waukesha Parks, Recreation & Forestry Department announced the Waukesha Neighborhood Beer Gardens will take place Thursday, August 17 through Sunday, August 20 in Rivers Crossing Park, and Thursday, August 24 through Sunday, August 27, in Bethesda Park.

Neighborhood Beer Gardens will offer Sprecher Brewing Co. products, food, and live music throughout the weekend. The event is free and open to the public with no entrance or parking fees.

“We had a great turnout for last year’s Oktoberfest celebration,” said Waukesha Mayor, Shawn Reilly. “The Neighborhood Beer Gardens are a chance for neighbors to have that same great experience on a smaller scale in our neighborhood parks.”

“Our parks are such a great asset to Waukesha and the Neighborhood Beer Gardens are another way to enjoy the parks,” said Common Council President Ald. Aaron Perry. “Residents in the Rivers Crossing and Bethesda Park neighborhoods will be able to walk up and enjoy the company of their neighbors, refreshments, and music. It will be a great community atmosphere.”

“I am pleased to host the Neighborhood Beer Garden in Bethesda Park,” said Ald. Erik Helgestad. “We have a strong neighborhood association there and a beautiful park along the river to show off.”

An additional feature of each Neighborhood Beer Garden will be the Wurst Beer Biathlon taking place on Thursday, August 17 and 24, and Saturday, September 23 as part of the Oktoberfest celebration. Runners ages 21 and older compete in the biathlon by running or walking and at the end, enjoying a beer. Children of registered runners will have the opportunity to run at no charge. Hours of the Waukesha Neighborhood Beer Gardens for Rivers Crossing Park and Bethesda Park are Thursday and Friday 5:00 to 9:00 PM and Saturday and Sunday 11:00 AM to 9:00 PM.
