WAUKESHA, Wis. (CBS 58) -- Waukesha residents now have a date for their historic switch to water from Lake Michigan, and it'll happen a little later than we expected.
According to a report in the Waukesha Freeman, the Waukesha Water Utility plans to start the transition on Oct. 9.
Earlier this week, officials were saying the transition would likely begin in mid-September, with no specific date.
Dan Duchniak, from the water utility, tells the Freeman that customers wanted a firm date, and moving the timeline back a few weeks allows them to do that.
He also says, "with a little more time, we can ensure the best product from the start" and take steps to minimize any potential taste or odor problems with the water during the transition.
