Wauwatosa police: Drivers shoot at one another in road rage/racing incident

WAUWATOSA, Wis. (CBS 58) -- Wauwatosa police say a road rage incident led to occupants of two vehicles shooting at each other. 

It happened early Tuesday, March 7. 

Wauwatosa police say just after 4:45 a.m., officers responded to a report of shots fired in the area of North 92nd and Fiebrantz. Milwaukee police also received a shot spotter alert from the area near 91st and Congress. 

Officers arrived and found a man who had been shot on the ground next to a vehicle that had crashed. He was transported to a hospital for treatment.

A preliminary investigation indicates two vehicles were involved in a road rage or racing incident and the occupants of both vehicles shot at each other. 

Authorities say one vehicle fled the scene prior to police arriving. 

Police believe the injured man was involved in the incident. 

An investigation is ongoing.
