WEST ALLIS, Wis. (CBS 58) -- An inspiring story out of West Allis, where a man went above and beyond to help a woman without a home.
The owner of West Allis Midas, Kent Childs, gave the woman a new car Thursday, July 21, while our cameras were rolling.
Childs met Anna about a month ago. She was sitting near the shop alone.
Anna said she was living out of her car until it broke down and she sold it as scrap.
Childs helped Anna get to a local shelter and then went to work to get her a new car.
In a life-changing gesture, Childs and Midas overhauled this Ford Focus and gifted it to her.
"I am so grateful. My car was my protection," Anna said.
"In this day and age there's a lot of negativity going around...making this world a better place," said Childs.
Anna was able to drive off in her new car Thursday. The vehicle was registered and ready to go.
