West Bend Woman Dies during Tactical Situation
On Thursday, April 7 at 1:24 AM a citizen called the West Bend Police Department and requested that officers check on the welfare of a 42-year-old woman living in the 900 block of North 18th Avenue, according to a release from the West Bend Police Department. Officers responded and attempted to make contact with the woman in the home. While attempting to make contact with the woman, officers observed the woman with a handgun.
A short time later a shot was fired that exited the front of the home. The officers were in front of the home with the woman’s family members when the shot was fired from inside the home.
Officers then secured the area and the Police Department’s Special Response Team responded to the scene. Officers made several attempts to make contact with the woman and her boyfriend that lived in the home. Officers were unable to make contact with either the woman or her boyfriend.
At 3:54 AM officers forced entry into the home. When officers entered they found the 42-year-old woman dead from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound. The 41-year-old boyfriend was located and was not injured. No officers or other citizens were injured.
