WHITEFISH BAY, Wis (CBS 58) -- The 12U Whitefish Bay All-Star baseball team made it all the way to the Little League World Series Regional Final on Friday, Aug. 14.

The team came up one win short of becoming the first team in Wisconsin history to make it to the Little League World Series.

Despite coming up short, the players and coaches left their mark on not only Whitefish Bay, but all of Wisconsin.

“Sports is one thing, the opportunity to grow, meet all these other teams and deal with adversity and all of that stuff, that’s gonna be lesson after lesson in life,” Whitefish Bay 12U parent Chad Sloden said.

The kids showed grit throughout the regional, coming back to win games and staying alive in the championship until extra innings.

Players from other Whitefish Bay teams packed the Argo Theater on Friday to watch the game.

“So special to see how all of Whitefish Bay is here just supporting you,” 10U player Kai Fetherston said.

The team did not only leave a mark but is inspiring the next generation.

“Just seeing how our teams have been playing, I feel like once we get there, I feel like we have a good chance,” Fetherston said.
