WHITEFISH BAY, Wis. (CBS 58) -- The village of Whitefish Bay is looking to give new life to the Fox Bay Theater.
The iconic space in the heart of the village closed back in 2020 in the wake of the pandemic.
But during a special meeting Tuesday night, the village board took up a plan to revive it. That plan would see the theater transformed into The Argo -- a multi-purpose live entertainment space with a bar and restaurant.
The group looking to make it happen says they want to create something new while holding on to the theater's history.
"We know that this is a place that's just been really special to this community, and really it holds memories across generations," said Adam Powers, co-founder of The Argo. "So our goal is not simply to preserve the past, but to build on it and inspire a future here."
As for what's next, the group behind the project is asking the village board to award them a community development grant. That'll be used to cover a portion of the project's $7.3 million price tag.
If things move forward, you can expect to see The Argo open for business this fall.
