MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- The embattled director of Milwaukee's Public Housing Authority is on his way out.
City officials confirmed with CBS 58 News on Friday, Dec. 6, that Willie Hines is retiring.
Milwaukee's Housing Authority has been under fire for months following a string of complaints about things like pest infestations and public safety concerns.
Both HACM residents and activist groups accused Hines of failing to properly address those concerns and call his retirement a victory.
"Today's a win for the thousands of David's across this city who came together and never gave up. Who kept fighting," said Kebin Solomon, associate organizer with Common Ground.
Hines' retirement will take effect at the end of the month.
