Wisconsin DMV announces 2 new license plates

MADISON, Wis. (CBS 58) -- Wisconsin's Department of Transportation Division of Motor Vehicles has revealed two new special license plates for drivers in a Wednesday, May 8 press release.

The first is the Suicide Prevention plate, with proceeds directed to the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention. The second is the "Spay, Neuter, Adopt" plate, which benefits The Fix Is In, Inc.

The American Foundation for Suicide Prevention aims to prevent suicide through education, fundraising and outreach. The Fix Is In, Inc. provides logistical and financial support for spaying and neutering cats and dogs to reduce shelter intake and prevent animal suffering.

Fees include a $25 contribution, a one-time $15 issuance fee along with the regular vehicle registration fee. Personalization costs an additional $15 annually.

There are now 53 special plates available, viewable and orderable on the Wisconsin DMV website.
