Wisconsin DOJ investigating fatal police shooting of subject armed with rifle

DE PERE, Wis. (CBS 58) -- The Wisconsin Department of Justice Division of Criminal Investigation says one person is dead following a police shooting in the City of De Pere.
During the early morning hours of Saturday July 26, the De Pere Police Department, the Ashwaubenon Public Safety Department and Brown County Sheriff's Office responded to the Perkofski Boat Launch for reports of a person armed with a rifle.
Upon arrival, officers attempted negotiations with that subject.
But shortly after, the subject brought out the rifle and officers fired their weapons, hitting the person.
The person was pronounced dead at the scene.
The involved law enforcement officers will be placed on administrative leave, per agencies’ policies.
DCI is leading this investigation and are assisted by a DCI Crime Response Specialist, Wisconsin State Patrol and the Wisconsin State Crime Laboratory.
All involved law enforcement are fully cooperating with DCI during this investigation.
