Wisconsin State Fair announces Sporkies and Drinkies finalists ahead of the 2024 fair

WEST ALLIS, Wis. (CBS 58) -- Eight finalists have been selected for the Sporkies competition, and four finalists for the Drinkies competition, all set to be featured during the upcoming Wisconsin State Fair. Fairgoers will have the opportunity to taste each of the innovative entries.

The finalists were announced in a press release Wednesday, June 12 in which the fair noted that the selected finalists showcase creativity and originality in both food and drink.

The Sporkies finalists include:

• Cool Ranch Doritos Pickle by Deep-Fried Mashed Potatoes On-a-Stick: A dill pickle rolled in crushed Cool Ranch Doritos, deep-fried and served with ranch dressing.
• Deep-Fried Lemonade Bites by Saz’s BBQ: Hawaiian sweet rolls with lemonade curd, deep-fried and coated in lemon sugar with icing drizzle.
• Dirty Chai Cinnamon Roll Lumpia by Lumpia City: Cinnamon roll center with chai-spiced brown sugar butter, wrapped in lumpia wrapper with cream cheese espresso frosting.
• Elote Corn Ribs by Tropics: Corn on the cob, deep-fried and dusted with cotija cheese, served with Elote dip.
  
• Elvis Nachos by Slim McGinn’s Irish Pub: Peanut butter banana sauce over deep-fried potato chips, topped with peanuts, banana chips and bacon.
• Hot Ham and Glazers by Bud Pavilion: Hot ham and Swiss cheese between two Kwik Trip Glazers donuts, with raspberry jam.
  
• Loaded Baked Potato Churro by WürstBar: A churro stuffed with bacon, chives and cheddar cheese, served with sour cream and onion dipping sauce.
  
• Rise and Swine by Camp Bar: A brioche waffle topped with vanilla custard, maple syrup, caramel sauce and breakfast sausage links.

The Drinkies finalists include:

• Fairway Fusion by Old Fashioned Sipper Club: Sweet tea and lemonade with pineapple and key lime juices, coconut syrup, mint and lime.
• Glazed Donut Coffee Float by Fluffy’s Hand Cut Donuts: Glazed donut-infused iced coffee over vanilla ice cream, topped with donut hole and crumbles.
• Purple Pickle Lemonade by Tropics: Lemonade with pickle juice and baby dill pickles, colored with Butterfly Pea Flower.
• Tropical Sunset by Deep-Fried Mashed Potatoes On-a-Stick: Jasmine green tea with strawberry, mango and pineapple juice, plus edible glitter.

The 2024 Wisconsin State Fair takes place Aug. 1 - 11, and all finalists will be available for purchase during the fair. More information can be found by visiting the fair online.
