MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- A 32-year-old woman has been charged in connection with the shooting death of Concordia University student 26-year-old Ariel Spillner.

Jamica Mills Milwaukee County Jail

Jamica Mills now faces one count of first-degree reckless homicide, use of a dangerous weapon.

According to a criminal complaint, both Mills and Spillner were found the evening on Tuesday, Nov. 4, shot inside a residence. Spillner was pronounced dead at the scene.

The criminal complaint says Mills, who was shot in the abdomen, was combative at the scene and continued to be combative to staff at Froedtert Hospital where she was treated.

Investigators interviewed Mills, who reportedly stated she and Spillner had been friends for approximately one year. The two were hanging out on Nov. 4, according to the complaint, and smoking weed together. Mills alleged Spillner was supposed to cut her dogs hair with scissors but became paranoid Spillner would stab her.

According to the complaint, Mills told police she went to her bedroom and retrieved a firearm and shot Spillner after she thought she observed her making a hand motion.

Mills reportedly then walked toward the front door and accidentally shot herself in the stomach but didn't know how it happened.

According to the criminal complaint, investigators located the firearm box associated with the gun used in the shooting. Officials say purchase paperwork was located in Mills' name.

Mills appeared in court on Sunday, Nov. 9, where a judge set her bond at $150,000.
