Woman in Slender Man stabbing returns to court next week

WAUKESHA, Wis. (CBS 58) --- One of the two girls convicted of stabbing a classmate to please the horror character Slender Man will return to court next week.

Anissa Weiser, now 19-years-old, will return to court for a hearing

for her request from conditional release from a state mental health facility on Wednesday, March 10. Court expects the hearing to last an entire day.

The jury in the stabbing trial found Weier not criminally responsible due to mental illness in 2017. 

Weiser and Morgan Geyser were 12 in 2014 when they attacked 12-year-old Payton Lautner in a Waukesha County park. 

Investigators say Weier and Geyser had been planning to kill Lautner for months, believing it would help them become proxies of the fictional character Slender Man.

According to police, the girls lured Lautner into the woods to play hide and seek.

Geyser sat on the victim's legs and stabbed her 19 times. A bicyclist later found Lautner, and she survived from her injuries.
