GERMANTOWN, Wis. (CBS 58) -- A 39-year-old man, Melvin Hintson-Reed, was extradited from Indiana to Wisconsin on Wednesday, Nov. 19 and charged with attempted first-degree intentional homicide and physical abuse of a child, according to Germantown police.

The charges are from an incident that happened Sunday, June 15 in Germantown, according to a criminal complaint. Germantown police went to an apartment on Legend Ave. at approximately 7:55 a.m. after receiving 911 calls reporting a stabbing.

Officers reportedly found a woman with a stab wound to her chest and multiple cuts. A 15-year-old girl also had a cut on her left hand and other injuries.

According to the complaint, the girl told police she woke up to her mother screaming and saw Hintson-Reed attacking her mother in the living room. She said she tried to stop him by hitting Hintson-Reed with a piece of wood and trying to pull him off her mother. During the struggle, the complaint cites her as telling officials that she was cut on her left hand when she tried to stop Hintson-Reed from stabbing her mother.

The girl also said that Hintson-Reed stabbed her mother in the chest before leaving through the front door. Hospital staff told police the woman's chest wound was life-threatening, according to the complaint.

Surveillance video from a nearby business reportedly showed a semi-truck arriving in the area at 7:49 a.m. and leaving at 7:57 a.m. Police determined the truck belonged to Trans Am Trucking and was used by Hintson-Reed.

Indiana law enforcement arrested Hintson-Reed after what officials describe as a pursuit and crash.

Hintson-Reed appeared before Washington County Judge Kenitz, where bond was set at $2 million. He is in custody at the Washington County Jail.
