Work begins on north side of 35th St. as National Avenue reconstruction project progresses

CBS 58 MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Construction is happening all around Milwaukee, with a long-term project along National Avenue.
This week, the Department of Public Works (DPW) started working on the north side of 35th St., leaving one lane of traffic open in each direction.
One reason for the projects is the hundreds of potholes across the city.
"We are dealing with these extreme weather patterns, and they have affected our roads, and they have led to hundreds more potholes this year than average," said Alderperson JoCasta Zamarripa. "There is such a huge abundance of them, and they are trying to get them done as soon as possible."
Construction for the National Avenue project is scheduled to take place over the next three years.
