Yearly temp check after a mild weekend
We had some chilly air for the last few weeks since before Thanksgiving, but that all changed over the weekend. Both Saturday and Sunday reached 50 degrees with some good wind Saturday and a bit of patchy fog Sunday.
Those two days combined with temps Monday morning that already reached 50 degrees now makes it 245 days so far this year with a high temperature of at least 50 degrees. That is a record for the most 50 degree days or warmer in a year beating the old record of 243 days set back in 1994.
2024 is still on track to be the warmest year on record. With the mild air over the weekend the average temperature to date is 54.1 degrees which is almost a full degree over 2012 as the current top spot through this point of the year. December, 2023 was super warm and ended up taking over as the warmest year on record by the end of the month but 2024 is on track to beat it!
We are going to see more warmth on Monday with afternoon highs hovering around 50 degrees. There will be a bit more a breeze than Sunday with winds gusting to 20 mph under a mostly sunny sky with a few clouds here and there.
Enjoy the mild air on Monday because a series of cold fronts will drop our temps for the middle of the week. Highs drop back to reality in the 30s for Tuesday then to chilly levels in the 20s on Wednesday and even further into the teens for highs on Thursday making it the coldest day of the year so far. Factoring in the wind, feels like temps on Tuesday stay in the 20s all day, they stay in the teens all day Wednesday then Thursday morning wind chills are as cold as -20 in the morning and don't warm much further than 0 degrees in the afternoon.
