MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- In Milwaukee County Thursday, one of the men charged with felony murder in the death of D'Vontaye Mitchell reached a plea deal with the state.

Brandon Turner agreed to plead guilty in exchange for testifying against the other three co-defendants.

This is expected to be the first domino to fall in the murder cases.

Brandon Turner is the first of three men to have plea hearings that could lead to them all testifying in the trial of the fourth defendant.

After initially pleading not guilty to having a role in D'Vontaye Mitchell's murder, Brandon Turner entered a guilty plea Thursday.

He was one of three men who had a role in Mitchell's death June 30, when Mitchell was beaten and suffocated outside the Hyatt hotel.

Mitchell's family- including his wife, mother, and sister- were in the gallery.

The agreement requires Turner to cooperate with the state and testify against the other men who are also charged in Mitchell's murder. If he does cooperate, the state is recommending Turner be given probation.

The agreement requires Turner testify against the other three co-defendants, but it may not be necessary. There is only one trial scheduled, for the fourth defendant- Todd Erickson- in August.

The two other men also have plea hearings in the coming weeks that could result in similar agreements.
