MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- With just 10 days before the Republican National Convention (RNC), official preparations continue while residents in the security perimeter get ready to deal with security restrictions.

"We feel good about things. We're on track. We're on schedule," Republican National Convention Deputy Communications Director Kush Desai said.

It is coming down to the wire for the RNC team.

"There is still a lot to get done between now and when the delegates hit the floor here at Fiserv," Desai said. "We'll be working, really, around the clock to make this happen."

Soon, a security perimeter with two zones will be installed around the convention. The hard zone, shaded in red, is only for credentialed people and no cars. The soft zone, shown in yellow on the perimeter map, will be for pedestrians and cars that pass a security screening.

"Other than that, I was told it was told it will pretty much be business as usual," Justin Vilar said.

Vilar lives down the street from Fiserv Forum at The Moderne, located in the soft zone. Vilar told CBS 58 that he knows what to expect during the convention because his building management communicated safety expectations.

"They've been pretty straightforward with everything, letting us know when things are going to be happening," he said. "The timeline of things. They've been pretty good about that."

Like anyone else who wants to drive in and out of the soft zone, Moderne residents will have five checkpoints to choose from.

"We just have to make sure that we have our [key] fobs available. There is nothing really grand that they've told us about," Moderne resident Amanda Johnson said. "Some people had to rearrange their parking, but they accommodated for that."

Johnson also lives in the building, and said she is not concerned about the thousands of people coming for the RNC, especially since she will be able to use her car to get to and from her job.

"I work a tight schedule, so by the time I get home, they'll be finished," she said.

When they released the official security perimeters, the U.S. Secret Service reported that 550 Ultra Loft Condos is the only residential building in the hard zone.
