CBS 58 TOWN OF GRAFTON, Wis. (CBS 58) — The Ozaukee County Sheriff's Office is asking for the public's help in locating a hit-and-run crash suspect who left an 11-year-old boy hospitalized and in critical condition.
Crews responded to the crash scene near Port Washington Road and Hunters Lane on Friday, October 2nd, at around 6:36 p.m.
Officials say 37-year-old David Sitar is suspected of driving a white 2013 Ford Econoline work van that struck the boy, who was riding a bicycle, as the van exited the residential area.
Sitar reportedly left the scene shortly after the crash. He is described as 37 years old, approximately 6 feet tall, 180 pounds, with brown hair and hazel eyes.
Sheriffs have released this picture of him from December 2024.
The Ozaukee County Sheriff's Office says it located and recovered the van, but Sitar's whereabouts remain unknown.
Investigators believe he may be in the Kenosha area and may be relying on family, friends, or rideshare services for transportation.
Sitar has active felony warrants through the Ozaukee County Sheriff’s Office for First Degree Reckless Endangering Safety, Hit and Run Causing Injury, and Operating a Motor Vehicle Without a License Causing Great Bodily Harm.
The Sheriff's Office urges anyone who has seen Sitar, provided him transportation, or knows his current whereabouts to contact them at 262-284-7172.
