Brewers fans celebrate Game 1 World Series win across Milwaukee
(CBS 58) — Game 1 of the World Series is in the books after Milwaukee took a 3-2 victory over the Tampa Bay Rays, and while American Family Field was rocking inside, fans flocked to nearby bars and watch parties outside.
At Kegel’s Inn in West Allis, a large crowd sat outside and watched the game on a massive television screen.
Fans ordered beer after beer, rooting for the Brew Crew while enjoying a fall evening.
“I wanted to be amongst all the people of the city. I wanted to be as close as I could without having a ticket. And this works phenomenal. This is Milwaukee,” said Dillon Connor, a Brewers fan. “It's so special for the team. It's so special for the city and Wisconsin. It's just amazing what this is doing for the state of Wisconsin.”
The Bucks moved their home opener on Friday to the afternoon so that everyone could focus on the Brewers in Game 1.
Hundreds of fans packed the Deer District for Game 1, on the edge of their seats for every pitch.
“It’s amazing. Wisconsinites, we’re family, we’re a whole, and this is huge for us right now, for us to come together," Bucks fan DaJhane Stapleton said.
The crowd was filled with longtime fans, all waiting for a potential World Series championship to come to Milwaukee.
“This crowd has waited 44 years for an opportunity like this, and they might be able to see it in the next week or so," Brewers fan Keith Adamkiewicz said. "We’re looking forward to it. Let’s go, let's go Brewers!”
