MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- On Sunday, July 14, delegates and guests here for the Republican National Convention will be welcomed with a big celebration.
Fifteen-thousand people are expected to attend the "Red, White and Brew" party, which will be held at the Henry Maier Festival Park and hosted by the nonpartisan nonprofit MKE 2024 Host Committee.
Organizers said multiple smaller local businesses joined together to craft what should be a great impression of Milwaukee.
Attendees can expect plenty of food and drink, plus live entertainment and a performance by country music star Trace Adkins.
"We want them to have an experience of what Wisconsin is like, so we're really trying to infuse different entertainment elements and experiential things throughout the party, so that they can really get a good idea of why this city and the state of Wisconsin is so special," said David Caruso, the party's creative director.
The U.S. Secret Service will block off several main roads by the park for the event, including shutting down the Hoan Bridge.
A map with the full closure can be found here.
