15-year-old Milwaukee boy leads police on 26 mile chase after allegedly stealing car in Fond du Lac
FOND DU LAC, Wis. (CBS 58) -- On Wednesday at 2:11 a.m., the Fond du Lac Police Department responded to a carjacking incident at Wal-Mart located at 377 N. Rolling Meadows Drive. The victim told police her car was stolen from the parking lot by a man who acted like he had a gun and demanded the keys.
The victim was not injured.
While Fond du Lac Police officers were responding to the scene, they saw the stolen car driving south on I-41 near S. Military Road. Fond du Lac Police along with the Sheriff's Department and State Patrol all pursued the stolen car on I-41.
The pursuit lasted 26 miles and ended in Washington County near Highway 60 with the assistance of the Washington County Sheriff’s Department after the vehicle crashed near an off ramp.
The man took off running and after a short foot chase he was taken into custody without incident. The suspect was taken to St. Joseph’s Hospital in West Bend for medical clearance and later transported to the Fond du Lac Police Department.
The suspect is a 15-year-old boy from Milwaukee and is facing multiple charges including robbery and operating a motor vehicle without owner’s consent.
