MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- It's hard to believe that in 2023, there are still young people who haven't had much of a chance to work with computers.
Thanks to an event in Milwaukee Friday, Sept. 29, dozens of students now have laptops of their own.
At the Hmong American Friendship Association on the west side, 150 Hmong American students were presented with their own laptops.
AT&T and Human IT provided the refurbished laptops to students who have completed digital literacy classes.
The kids were treated to a traditional dance performance and even some of the dancers got laptops.
"My plans are to use it for school and also researching, and also researching and finding things about my culture and maybe learning how to cook a couple foods from my culture too," said Olivia Cheng, Hmong American Dance Team.
A spokesperson tells us many of these kids' families don't have internet at home, so AT&T is also creating an internet cafe where they can go online.
