18-year-old accused in armed robbery of Glendale Qdoba

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- An 18-year-old is accused of attempting to rob a Qdoba restaurant in Glendale. Investigators say Marqavion Williams along with a juvenile, admitted to using his grandfather's gun in the incident.

Glendale police were called to the scene around 10:43 p.m. on Monday, March 13 regarding a report of an armed robbery in progress at the Qdoba at 510 W. Silver Spring Drive.

Upon arrival, officer learned two suspects, identified as Williams and a 16-year-old girl, retreated to the kitchen of the restaurant and were seen on CCTV video climb into the ceiling.

Police called in assistance from the Milwaukee County Sheriff's Department SWAT as the suspects were refusing to come down from the ceiling.

According to a criminal complaint, officers deployed several rounds of pepper balls into the ceiling in an effort to get them down.

The complaint says officers learned Williams was possibly one of the two subjects in the ceiling. A lieutenant reportedly attempted to call Williams' cellphone 48 times over the course of about two hours, but he did not answer. The lieutenant, according to the complaint, texted Williams and he responded he was afraid and sorry for what he had done. He also reportedly texted he did not mean to hurt anyone and just wanted to go home.

Investigators say Bayshore security officers witnessed the two suspects fall from the ceiling in an adjoining vacant business. It was determined the two made a hole in the drywall between Qdoba and the vacant business.

According to the complaint, in an interview, Williams first admitted he went to Qdoba with the 16-year-old because they needed money for a car. He later changed the story, claiming he "would have done it regardless."

The complaint says Williams admitted to taking the gun used in the robbery from his grandfather.

Williams has been charged with the following:

  • Armed robbery
  • False imprisonment
  • Failure to comply with officer's attempt to take person into custody
  • Bail jumping
  • Criminal damage to property
  • Carrying a concealed weapon
