2 dead, 1 critically injured in wrong-way I-43 crash near Port Washington

OZAUKEE COUNTY, Wis. (CBS 58) -- The Ozaukee County Sheriff's Department identified the victims of a fatal crash that happened on I-43 in Port Washington. 

Authorities identified the two people killed as: 

  • 56-year-old Jay Horne from Oostburg
  • 51-year-old Nicole Horne from Oostburg 

A 22-year-old woman, identified by officials as Allissa Horne, remains hospitalized with serious injuries.

A fundraiser has been started for funeral expenses and for Allissa Horne's ongoing medical care. 

The man driving the wrong way was identified by officials as 34-year-old Ace Vue.

Criminal charges are being referred to the district attorney's office.

OZAUKEE COUNTY, Wis. (CBS 58) -- A head-on crash involving a wrong-way driver on Interstate 43 in Ozaukee County left two people dead and two others hospitalized with critical and serious injuries.

The Ozaukee County Sheriff’s Office say they received multiple 911 calls reporting a 2025 Lexus traveling southbound in the northbound lanes near Jay Road shortly before 12:37 a.m. Monday, May 26.

Authorities report the Lexus struck a northbound 2017 Ford Escape at 12:44 a.m. near County Highway H in the Town of Port Washington.

The 34-year-old Milwaukee man driving the Lexus was airlifted to Froedtert Hospital in critical condition. Two occupants of the Ford Escape, a 51-year-old woman and a 56-year-old man, were pronounced dead at the scene. A 22-year-old woman was hospitalized with serious injuries.

The crash is still under investigation.
