MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- The man accused of shooting a pregnant woman and her boyfriend on Milwaukee's north side March 10 made his initial court appearance Sunday, March 15.

Tyrese Allen, 27, has been charged with two counts of first-degree homicide and first-degree intentional homicide to an unborn child in the murder of 31-year-old Mya Tolbert and 33-year-old Giovonni McVicker.

Milwaukee County Court

According to a criminal complaint, Allen shot both McVicker and Tolbert multiple times following an argument and physical fight.

Surveillance video from the complaint goes on to say that after a fist fight between Allen and McVicker ensued, Allen shot at McVicker, chased him into the street and continued to shoot him.

When Tolbert attempted to intervene, Allen took what believed to have been McVicker's firearm and shot Tolbert numerous times, with the victim suffering eight gunshot wounds.

Tolbert was a mother of two and pregnant at the time of the shooting.

According to a Milwaukee Medical Examiner's Office autospy, Tolbert was approximately 25-31 weeks pregnant, and the unborn baby did not survive.

The preliminary autopsy for McVicker shows he was shot 31 times.

The court commissioner set Allen's bail at $500,000 and a preliminary hearing is set for March 23rd.
