KENOSHA, Wis. (CBS 58) -- The Kenosha Police Department says a 10-year-old boy, his 9-year-old brother, and 7-year-old sister are dead following an apartment fire during the night of Thanksgiving, Thursday, Nov. 27.

The Kenosha Fire Department responded to the scene along 43rd Ave. near 52nd St., around 10:40 p.m., for reports of three people trapped, including children.

Police say the two boys died at the scene and the girl died after being hospitalized via flight for life for fire injuries

Their father was also taken to the hospital, being treated for smoke inhalation.

"Lot of tears last night and again, everyone's just the kids, the kids, the kids, that's it," said neighbor LaToya Cook. "I work from home, and I always see the kids out here, give them fruit snacks every now and then."

Cook said she and her daughter had just returned from their Thanksgiving dinner when they saw the smoke coming from a nearby unit.

"Speechless, really speechless, just hard," Cook said. "It makes me sick to my stomach."

Officials are still investigating what led up to the fire.

"Prayers to the family," Cook said.

This is what the scene looked like as of Friday morning, Nov. 28, as CBS 58 crews surveyed the aftermath.

The Kenosha Fire Department says the fire is currently under investigation.
