MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- A 31-year-old died Sunday, April 19 after a two-vehicle crash near 60th and Hampton, according to Milwaukee police.

Surveillance video captured the moment a white car hit another car going through the intersection. CBS 58 blurred the video at the moment of impact.

“I just heard a big sound. Huge sound," said Mohammad Awan, witness. “This intersection, always some accident.”

The video shows the car catching on fire. A few moments later, Awan comes out of the gas station to help.

“We tried to open the door but the door was stuck," said Awan.

Awan says he and several other people broke the window of the car to remove the victim.

"It took like five minutes to take him out of the car," said Awan.

Others ran back inside the gas station to get a fire extinguisher.

“I said if the oil or whatever it is, it catch the fire, the guy gonna be dead. So that scared us actually," said Awan.

Police say the crash happened at around 10:30 p.m. when a northbound driver on 60th struck another car. The 26-year-old driver of the first car was taken into custody.

“And then she was trying to run. She was trying to – “let me go, let go.” I said “no, you can’t go," said Awan.

The 31-year-old person inside of the second car was taken to a hospital where they were pronounced dead.

Awan says people on the road shouldn't have to worry about getting home safe.

“I don’t know how some people they drive, but they put other people in danger," said Awan.

Charges are pending review by the Milwaukee County District Attorney's Office.
