36-year-old Milwaukee man faces life in prison for shooting, killing 3 people in Milwaukee

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Criminal charges have been filed against 36-year-old Thomas Zollicoffer, a man accused of killing three people in two separate shootings. 

Zollicoffer is facing three counts of first-degree intentional homicide and four counts of possession of a firearm by a felon. 

Police say Saturday, Aug. 8, 26-year-old Vanessa DeHerrera and 29-year-old Scott Bucholz were fatally shot near 21st and Pierce. Not even an hour later, near 39th and Townsend, 39-year-old Shamarla 'Asir' Hare was fatally shot. 

Following the shootings, police were looking to track down Zollicoffer, who is accused of shooting all three victims. 

Zollicoffer was arrested near 84th and Fiebrantz following a standoff with police on Aug. 11. 

According to a criminal complaint, Zollicoffer was DeHerrera's former live-in boyfriend. The day of the shooting, Zollicoffer reportedly found DeHerrera at a friend's residence, started arguing with her and then shot her. 

According to court documents, during an interview, Zollicoffer stated he did not mean to killed DeHerrera, and only meant to wound her. He then indicated he "lost it," and ultimately shot her in the head. Zollicoffer, per the complaint, told investigators he shot Bucholz because he was "talking [expletive]." When asked why he shot Hare, Zollicoffer reportedly stated, "the [expletive] grabbed me," and admitted to shooting them in the head. 

Now, another woman is being charged with harboring and aiding a felon.

The house Zollicoffer was arrested at belongs to 38-year-old Elana Cole, who told police she let him stay despite knowing about the shooting deaths.

Cole said even though she was told three people were dead, she left her children in Zollicoffer's care while she went out drinking.

Both Cole and Zollicoffer are expected to appear in court.
