Day by day, downtown Milwaukee is becoming kind of an outdoor art showplace.
Today, a 40-foot tall stainless steel sculpture was installed at 4th and Wisconsin.
The piece, which is titled "Vortex" was created by a Brazilian artist. It's one of the 22 sculptures being set up along Wisconsin Avenue over a two week period.
The world class artwork is part of a project called "Sculpture Milwaukee." They will be on display through the summer and into the fall.
"I think culture has always been something the community has invested in and I think this is just another layer of us looking at how Milwaukee's changing and reinvesting in itself, it's a great gift for the community," said Project Manager Marilu Knode.
One of the sculptures that will be installed next week is from Santiago Calatrava, the man who designed the distinctive addition to the Milwaukee Art Museum.
