NOW: 40-year-old motorcyclist dead after hit-and-run on Milwaukee’s north side

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- The Milwaukee Police Department (MPD) is investigating a deadly hit-and-run crash that happened Saturday, June 7.

At around 8:13 p.m. near N. 76th and W. Florist, a 40-year-old motorcyclist was traveling northbound on N. 76th when police say it struck a second vehicle. The second vehicle was initially going southbound on N. 76th when it made a left turn onto W. Florist.

Black Shiffe, who identified himself as a musician and activist in the Milwaukee area, posted cell phone video of the crash to his Facebook page.

“It was terrible,” Sheriff told CBS 58, describing the condition of the motorcycle. “The Harley-Davidson bike was bent in half. Almost like 90 degrees. It was bad.”

The motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene due to the injuries sustained from the collision. Police are still looking for the driver of the second car.

Shiffe said this was a reminder of the city’s reckless driving problem.

“It’s ridiculous. It’s very unsafe. People are scared. It’s affecting everybody. Not just one or two people, it’s everybody. Not just a group of people, the entire city,” Shiffe said.

The investigation is ongoing with MPD.
