MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- A former caregiver at Helping Hands Group home pled guilty to abusing a resident on Thursday, Jan. 25.
47-year-old Avery Davis was filmed hitting an autistic, non-verbal, 31-year-old man in July of last year in Milwaukee.
The victim's mother was in court today and says that her son is traumatized from the abuse.
"I'm even afraid to take him home for a couple of hours. Because he's going to attack me. I don't know what to do. I don't know what to do for him," said Kathy Hauglie, the victim's mother.
A records request found that police were called to the group home Davis worked at more than 80 times over the past few years.
Davis was sentenced to 15 months in prison.
