50-year-old Illinois woman dies after sledding at Camp Awana while visiting family

FARMINGTON, Wisc. (CBS 58) --- A 50-year-old Illinois woman died after sledding at Camp Awana in the town of Farmington Saturday, Jan. 23.

The Washington County Sheriff's Office said it happened just before 4 p.m. 

The woman veered off course down the sledding hill and crashed into a brush area and several trees, officials say. The woman was ejected from the inner tube and was laying unresponsive on the ground at the bottom of the hill, according to WCSO. 

The woman was transported to Froedtert Milwaukee by Flight For Life and around 9:30 p.m. she died due to her injuries. 

The woman was from Arlington Heights, Illinois and was in Washington County visiting family. 

Her name has not been released.
