70 People Picket Immigration Customs Enforcement In Milwaukee
MILWAUKEE--The pro Immigrant rights group \"Voces De La Frontera,\" assembled a group of about 70 people to block the garage doors at Immigration Customs Enforcement for two hours Thursday morning at the downtown Milwaukee.
It's an effort to protest recent immigration raids in the Milwaukee area.
The protesters also marched on the sidewalk in front of the building at 310 E. Knapp St., while waving signs that asked ICE to \"Keep Families Together.\"
Among the protester's, an 11-year old boy, who says his older brother was taken away during \"Operation Crosscheck,\" for a DUI conviction.
Victor Gonzalez teared up, as he thought about the possibility of never seeing his older bother again.
\"Operation Crosscheck,\" was a month long sting during May, which picked up 49 illegal immigrants, 44 of those detained were convicted criminals.
The immigrants came from nations as far as Laos and Romania, but the majority, 41, were Mexican Nationals.
